At Mosquito Shield of Central PA, our goal is to provide the best residential mosquito control service with the highest levels of customer service, allowing our customers to enjoy their yards, homes and time with family to the fullest.
Owner Ben Havens lives in Carlisle PA with his wife Erin and kids 2 kids, Kendrick & Eleanor. They are active and outdoorsy people who spend most weekends camping and hiking when the weather allows. Ben currently owns and operates a design/build remodeling firm which he will maintain ownership of but reduce his time there to one to two days per week. Ben first moved to Central PA in 2008 to work with at risk youth. 13 years later he is still there but is now married and has changed his career trajectories significantly. Having already built one company in the area, he knows that he has the contacts to make a successful Mosquito Shield franchise here in Central, PA and looks forward to serving the community in a new way through effective mosquito and tick control services.
Ben was broke in college and needed to find a way to pay his rent, so along with working two jobs he started his own small ebay business in which he would purchase damaged digital cameras, repair/refurbish them, and re-sell them. Not only did this pay his rent for two years, but he got his first taste of what it meant to run a business. Ben has been doing it ever since in one capacity or another, and he’d like to think he’s come a long way. This year his high-end remodeling business is on track to do 3.5M in revenue.
One of Bens favorite local restaurants is Mt. Fuji, which has some of the best sushi he’s found anywhere! They are only 10 minutes from his house and since the pandemic set in they bring it home at least once a month. His favorite local place to visit would be The Appalachian trail, which is only a few miles from his house. They like to get the dog loaded into the van with them and head over there to hike for an hour or two whenever possible. It’s a great way to get outdoors, get exercise, and enjoy being together as a family.
When asked what attracted them to Mosquito Shield, “I was definitely attracted to the simplicity of the Mosquito Shield business model. I love the idea of picking one thing and doing it better than anyone else. This allows me to provide a mosquito control service in Central Pennsylvania with great value at a good price. I am also excited about building a large recurring customer base – in remodeling we have some repeat customers but for the most part you get one large project from a customer and then they are only a referral source from that point on. Additionally, there is almost nobody in this Central, PA area treating for mosquitos and ticks and it is desperately needed. As an avid lover of the outdoors, I see Mosquito Shield as a way to spend more time enjoying being outside with friends and family through effective residential mosquito and tick control services in Central, PA. I am also excited to be able to provide the peace of mind that comes with knowing my family is protected from ticks & mosquitoes through proper pest control.”
